We will soon be replacing the 3 tires, support structure and railroad ties for the rifle range gongs. Since this is such a big job, we have hired a contractor to do the work. This work should take 3 to 4 days to complete, during which the rifle, shotgun and pistol ranges will have to be shut down. We are at the mercy of the contractor’s schedule and the weather.
THIS WORK IS SCHEDULED TO START MONDAY JANUARY 27th.
We will post updates here as soon as we get the latest information.
Special Announcement from ASI’s Jackie Russo : the ASI February 1st match is a Fundraiser for PCSO Deputy Connor Dyson, who was killed just before Christmas in a patrol car crash. He leaves behind a wife, a toddler and an infant. Deputy Dyson died prior to vesting in the State’s LEOFF 2 retirement system. His survivors will receive no pension. Proceeds of this match will be donated to Pierce County Sheriff’s Legacy Fund established for them.
For those who may not know – we have several retired LEOs (including myself) and active LEOs (including ASI’s Match Director – Joey Russo) who regularly compete in ASI.
From all of us we appreciate your support for Deputy Dyson’s family and our Law Enforcement Family.
If you cannot attend the match – PCSO has set up on-line donations for Deputy Dyson’s Legacy Fund at: http://www.tpcrimestoppers.com/?fbclid=IwAR04QdiNL12tLmIzP__XcfLJp5h7DKoRqM9oNkETDXNV6e9B9XMB8XSbINg
There has been a calendar change for January. The juniors have changed their scheduled airgun match to a 22 rifle match on the pistol range. This match, the Groundhog Match, will be held on the pistol range January 25th from 7AM to 5PM. The pistol range will be closed during this time to accomodate the match.
The 4th Annual Vision X Night Match Classic, held at the Paul Bunyan Rifle and Sportsman’s Club, raised over $20,000 for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Foundation. The proceeds were double the amount from last year’s competition, which raised $10,705 in 2018. The Vision X Night Match is an outlaw UML scoring format shooting competition. This year featured Pistol/Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) divisions, which spanned three days with six-night stages and six-day stages, with a total of twelve stages.
With spectators and competitors, this has been the largest Vision X Night Match Classic yet, featuring a wide range of competitors from first-time shooters to experienced veterans. “We had overwhelming support from sponsors, staff, and competitors, which drove this donation to its highest yet,” said Tim Novasky, Match Director. There were 43 sponsors this year with 147 competitors, 51 more competitors than last year.
“Throughout the weekend I had people nonstop coming up to me, telling me how much fun they were having, and thanking me for being part of the staff that put the event on. The match would have never been this big without our sponsors, our vendors, and the shooters. Everyone really fit together like the pieces of a puzzle to make this event a success.”
– Jeff Snope, Co-Founder
The night match included vendor booths, a demo bay, a side match, and a BBQ for the range of competitors and spectators. Nick Irwin, of Vision X lighting, and Jeff Snope, of Northwest Safe, co-founded the competition for charity in 2016. Thank you to the other sponsors that helped in making this year’s night match an enormous success! Check them out below!
